What is Darfur?

Darfur is the western region of Sudan, a country in Africa. This region has been in a humanitarian crisis since 2003 when the Sudan Liberation Movement and the Justice Equality movement rebel groups began fighting the government of Sudan. The root cause of this conflict is the oppression of Darfur’s non-Arab and Indigenous population, committed by their own government. The government responded to the rebels by carrying out genocide and an ethnic cleansing campaign against Darfur’s non-Arab population. Due to these terrible circumstances, many Darfurian Sudanese have been killed and millions have been displaced as their home country is no longer a safe place to live. These people are in desperate need of help as they are now destitute in refugee camps in the bordering countries. It is our goal to help these refugees have access to the basic necessities of life while in the refugee camps and to advocate for their freedom. Please donate now to help make a change!
